The Right Spot
With this illustration I wanted to communicate to potential student athletes (PSA's) that Florida State University is "The Right Spot" for them to choose to commit their next four years of higher learning and sport performance through football in a simplified and story filled way.
I used a centered circle (Spot) to draw the viewers attention to a faceless athlete wearing the number 19 that represents the signing class we're persuading them to commit too (Tribe19). By being faceless, it lends to ones ability to visualize themselves in uniform.
The spot was pushed further by framing it with 3 iconic images used to represent the Seminole Tribe in athletic uniforms. The Seminole symbols for fire, arrow, and man on horse. This pattern is used as a homage to the pre-game ritual in which a student portraying famous Seminole Leader Osceola charges down the field riding an Appaloosa horse and plants a flaming spear at midfield. The pattern also frames the athlete to speak to the pride, passion, family, tradition, and like-minded warriors that surround him.
